Barking is a natural form of communication for puppies just as talking is for you and I, you do not wish to stop this behaviour completely but perhaps simply tone it down a shade or two. Most dogs at some stage in their lives will chase after their tails. Now to you and I this appears to be a pretty pointless exercise, the tail is attached to them so of course when they turn around and around in circles obviously their tail will follow them. The Bulldog traces back to England and they are often confused with the American and French bulldog but it’s not the same dog – they do however have similarities in appearance.  They have a very wide head and broad shoulders with very thick skin folds on the brow and wide set eyes. They normally weigh between 50 – 55lbs and 12 – 14 inches in height. Their drooping, sad lips will melt your heart! The name Bulldog originates from medieval times, the dogs used to attach bulls in the arena combat but in the nineteenth century laws prevented this from continuing. (more…)

The Parvovirus is a very serious viral disease in dogs and if your dog has not been vaccinated then he or she is at risk and should be vaccinated immediately. The disease is extremely contagious and spread from dog to dog by contact with fecal matter.  This could happen by walking your dogs in the park or at the beach and from there one of your dogs can spread it to the others in your household. Dogs at the park or beach might not be showing signs yet – so you won’t know when your dog is exposed to the virus which is what makes the vaccines so incredibly important. (more…)
