Basset Fauve de Bretagne Description

The Basset Fauve de Bretagne is a short-legged hound with a long body not unlike a Basset Hound. They are exceptionally neat in their appearance and are a very compact little dog. Their coats are very dense and have a harsh look about them, their colour is generally a red/wheaten or fawn with possible white on the neck or chest. Their eyes are normally a warm, dark hazel colour and their ears are pendant styled.

The Basset Fauve de Bretagne might be a small dog but it strides out with purpose and has a very quick turn of speed. They are intelligent little dogs but they also have a stubborn streak which makes them challenging to train, the breed is a typical hound and has the ‘selective deafness’ which seems to go with hounds, so recall training will require some work! They possess a super cheerful personality and are especially friendly and brave. Children and other animals are no problem with this breed. They enjoy being active and busy and are not happy sitting still.
